Ben Nevis Challenge

Trekking on the iconic Ben Nevis

Can you take on the challenge of summitting Scotland’s highest and most iconic mountain?

Standing at an impressive 1,345m (4,413ft), hiking to the summit of Ben Nevis is a challenging, awesome, and unforgettable experience!

You’ll enjoy stunning views with a group of fellow hikers, led by a qualified guide to ensure everyone is walking safely, comfortably, and having a great time.

Distance: Approx.11 miles (17.7km)
Duration: Most groups complete this walk in 8-10 hours
Level: Active Plus (see Large Outdoors Experience Levels here)
Age: 16+ (under 18s must be accompanied by their parent/guardian throughout)
Dogs: No dogs, except trained assistance dogs

SBH Scotland has partnered with Large Outdoors to offer a couple of great sociable challenge walk options, with discounts for SBH Scotland supporters! Large Outdoors has been 'Making Outdoors Adventures Sociable’ since 2008 and they offer walks and trips - led by professional, experienced and friendly guides - for thousands of participants each year.

We'll send you a SBH Scotland t-shirt to wear on the trek day, and we'll be there every step of the way to help you raise as much as you can in support of SBH Scotland!

Summit Ben Nevis Challenge - 8am start

You'll meet your guide at 8am at the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre, and enjoy spectacular views as you head towards the summit.

Open Group price per person - £49.50 (includes 10% charity discount)

  • 2023 - 16th September
  • 2024 - 1st June, 29th June, 13th July, 10th August, 14th September

Ben Nevis Sunrise Challenge - 11pm start

You'll meet your guide at 11pm at the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre. After a safety briefing and checking all head torches are working, you'll strike out towards the summit. If the weather is on your side, you will witness a spectacular sunrise and incredible views!

2024 Dates: 19th June (summer solstice) and 1st September
