BNI Charity Challenge

bni members running across Austin skyline

Introducing a VIRTUAL fitness challenge to bring BNI members together whilst striving towards personal fitness goals and raising vital funds for Scotland wide charity, Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland.

In search of BNI founder, Dr Ivan Misner, the members of BNI chapters are invited to join SBH Scotland for an exceptional charity challenge. Interested members will register individually and then compete as part of their chapter team. As teams they will put their exercise miles together to virtually get from Glasgow to the Texas State Capital Building in Austin, USA. But who will make it first?

REGISTER NOW Click on the 'Join Mission' button on the right of screen on Desktop/Laptops. On mobile phones a 'Join Mission' button appears at the bottom of your screen.

The challenge, should you choose to accept it, is for all teams to do as much exercise as possible during the given time to make it from Scotland to Texas! That’s right, Scotland is going to visit Ivan Misner, founder of BNI! There is no limit to the size of your team, but all participants must be a member of BNI. You can do any form of exercise, walking, running, cycling, fitness classes etc (for any activities which don't have obvious miles, a conversion chart will be provided).

As SBH Scotland is a member of BNI, we're starting this challenge at their chapter's meeting place of the Nuffield Gym in Glasgow. The total distance of the challenge is 5133.1 miles made up of 1711.20 Active Miles and a virtual plane journey of 3421.9 miles! You can chart your full virtual mission on the map and see exactly where you are in the world based on your mileage!

SBH Scotland have set this up as a fundraising challenge and we hope as many teams as possible will choose to fundraise for us. We've set a fundraising target of £20,000 which would help to part fund one of our specialist Family Support Workers, a critical role within our charity, supporting new parents ante-natally, after the birth and through every stage in the child's life.

If your BNI Chapter has your own charity member then why not take part and raise funds for them??

REGISTER NOW Click on the 'Join Mission' button on the right of screen on Desktop/Laptops. On mobile phones a 'Join Mission' button appears at the bottom of your screen.

  • The challenge starts on Saturday 22nd August 2020. It will be live for 60 days, although if you're looking for the glory of the team win we anticipate you'll complete the challenge much quicker than this.
  • The route is planned and mapped in advance.
  • Everyone of all fitness levels and abilities are welcome.
  • Participants will compete as part of their chapter team. The virtual mission is integrated with Strava. Stats can also be added manually. Each time a participant exercises their team marker will move forward on the map.
  • The map can be viewed from the Virtual Mission page by any participant at anytime. You can also zoom in to Streetview on the map and see your virtual locale. Participants can also download an app for the mission so they can monitor their success on the go.
  • For those competitive participants there are dynamic leaderboards available so you can see who’s in the lead.

Taking Part

  • Each participant of each chapter team will register individually on the official Virtual Mission page, you will then be placed in your BNI Chapter's team.
  • Registration: £20 per person. The fee includes a Challenge Buff on completion. Charity t-shirts available free of charge on request.
  • Each chapter should choose a nominated captain. This person will be in charge of manually entering the virtual plane journey mileage once your team reaches Glasgow Airport, being the main liaison for team messaging from the charity as well as keeping your team motivated to win!!!
  • To fundraise, an official campaign for this challenge has been set up. This can be found HERE or on the Virtual Mission page. Fundraising pages can be set up individually or by the team captain for the whole chapter. Once in our official JustGiving charity campaign click on 'Start Fundraising' to set up your page.

REGISTER NOW Click on the 'Join Mission' button on the right of screen on Desktop/Laptops. On mobile phones a 'Join Mission' button appears at the bottom of your screen.
