Honorary Patron - Gordon Ramsay OBE
Michelin and BAFTA award winning international chef, Gordon Ramsay agreed to be our first ever Honorary Patron in 2003 after a chance meeting with our Chairperson, Dr Margo Whiteford at the start of the Great North Run!
Over the years he, and Tana Ramsay, have then frequently taken time out from their busy global schedules to launch Appeals, visit our families and fundraise for us.
In 2005 Gordon launched our Buy a Brick Appeal which helped raise over £850,000 to create our purpose built Family Support Centre. The centre which houses a sensory garden and adapted play area, tele-clinic room, adapted kitchen and multi-activity space is well used and is also the base for the Scotland wide staff team.
Gordon continued his support and shortly after launched the F Word Appeal "What's your favourite F Word - Gordon's is Fundraising". At this time he also hosted the first of many Gala Dinners to raise vital funds and the profile of the charity.
Gala Dinners were held in Stirling Castle, Mar Hall and the Glasgow Science Centre and in total raised in excess of £350,000.
With the emergence of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants in Edinburgh, Gordon has also chosen to continue support in a variety of ways! If you're at Bread Street Kitchen or Street Burger in Edinburgh this November or December you'll see the launch of the GReat Donate - whereby a £1 voluntary donation is added to each diner's bill to be donated to SBH Scotland. Read more about it in our Latest News.
Gordon's continued commitment is incredibly important to SBH Scotland and we are very grateful.
