Confirmation

1. Age Restrictions: You must be at least 18 years of age on the date of the event.

2. Equipment Limitations: We regret that beyond the following body sizes and weight we are unable to provide the required equipment to allow your participation.

3. Harness size:

  • Minimum Height – 140cm high
  • Maximum Height - 200cm
  • Maximum Waist - 120cm
  • Maximum Thigh – 75cm

4. Helmet Size: Head circumference: 48-61 cm

5. Maximum Weight: 18 Stone / 114.3kg

6. Rules of participation summary: All participants must abide by any rules, instructions and regulations provided in advance, displayed or given on the day by Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland (SBH Scotland), Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) and contracted agencies, police and officials. Please find a summary below of the rules needing to be followed during the event:

  • You must always listen carefully and follow all instructions from the staff
  • Do NOT adjust or remove the harness or helmet once fitted
  • STRICTLY no phones or loose items are allowed to be carried
  • STRICTLY No smoking or vaping
  • Long Hair must be tied up
  • No necklaces, chains or loose jewellery
  • Shoes must be laced up tight. No slippers or loose-fitting shoes
  • No Hoodies or shorts
  • All glasses and eyewear must have a banded strap so that they are securely on you and cannot fall off, otherwise they must be removed
  • If you have any concerns please inform a member of our staff immediately • We recommend you bring leather gardening style gloves (if you have), if not we will provide gloves for you.

7. All participants knowingly and freely assume and accept all such risks and take full responsibility for their participation in the event and Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland, its employees or agents will not be liable for any loss, damage, action, claim, costs or expenses, which may arise in consequence of participation in the event.

8. All participants will be required to complete a Participation Agreement form prior to participation. This must be returned to SBH Scotland by Monday 15th July 2024.

9. We want to make the fundraising event as accessible as possible to all participants. However, participants must be able to take part safely. Therefore, if they have any medical conditions that would prevent them from safely participating in the event or have any doubts about their physical fitness or health, it is their responsibility to consult with a qualified medical professional before taking part.

10. We also ask that any participants with any disabilities or pre-existing medical conditions which may affect their ability to participate then please let us know as soon as possible, so we can look at how best we can support for the event.

11. In return for a guaranteed place on the fundraising event, you must pay SBH Scotland the stated fees. We reserve the right to cancel or postpone the event if we consider there is an unacceptable risk (e.g., severe adverse weather) to the event participants, our staff or the general public. As such, fees will be refunded. If you cancel within 14 days of the event you will be liable for a £50 cancellation fee as your place will have already been paid for.

12. All participants are responsible for their personal belongings during the event. The event organisers and instructors will not be held liable for any loss, theft, or damage to personal property.

13. Participants’ supporters and family members who spectate at the event do so at their own risk. They must abide by any rules, instructions and regulations provided in advance, displayed or given on the day by SBH Scotland and contracted agencies, police and officials. SBH Scotland will not be liable for any injury or loss that might occur as a result of their attendance.

14. Parking at the event is limited, therefore we are asking all participants, supporters and family members, wherever possible to make use of public transport on the day of the event.

15. By participating in the event, participants grant SBH Scotland, CHSS & Zone Events Limited the right to use any photographs, videos, or other media taken during the event for promotional and marketing purposes, both online and offline, including but not limited to social media, websites, print materials, and advertisements, without compensation or further consent. You acknowledge that these materials may be shared with third parties for promotional purposes related to the abseiling event. If participants’ do not want their image taken, please inform before taking part.

16. You must enter the event under your own name. You may not change places with another person without seeking permission from SBH Scotland prior to Monday 10th June.

17. All participants enter this event entirely at their own risk and SBH Scotland shall not be liable for any injury or loss that might occur as a result of your participation.

18. SBH Scotland takes all reasonable steps to minimise the risk of injury to participants during fundraising events. There is a stringent risk assessment process in place for each and every event which aims to minimise the risk to everyone taking part. However, by taking part in this event, you acknowledge that there may be conditions or circumstances beyond our control that can lead to unforeseen risks. If you have any concerns or queries please contact us before agreeing to take part in this event.

19. All participants must abide by any rules, instructions and regulations provided in advance, displayed or given on the day by SBH Scotland staff and contracted agencies, police and officials.

20. In return for a guaranteed place on a SBH Scotland fundraising event, you must pay SBH Scotland the stated registration fee (which is refundable only in the unusual circumstances that an event has been cancelled by SBH Scotland) and commit to raising £185 donation, should you not reach this requirement you will be responsible to pay the remainder. The stated target sponsorship level excludes gift aid on sponsorship.

21. Should you have to withdraw, there will be no refund payable to you as your sponsorship was raised for charitable purposes. All sponsor forms and monies should be forwarded to the charity or returned to the sponsors.

22. Any monies raised in connection with a Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland (SBH Scotland) event must be passed to SBH Scotland.

If you want to raise additional money offline we can offer paper sponsor forms (available from our Fundraising Team on 03455 211 600).

Any funds you have raised offline can be paid directly to the charity in 3 ways:

i) Send a cheque made payable to SBH Scotland to Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland, The Dan Young Building, 6 Craighalbert Way, Cumbernauld, G68 0LS.

ii) Pay through online banking. Contact 03455 211 600 for our bank details.

iii) Pay via your credit or debit card. Call us on 03455 211 600 to make a payment.

23. Any participant unsure of their physical ability to take part in an SBH Scotland event should take medical advice from a general practitioner prior to the event. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are medically fit to participate and it is extremely important that you are realistic and truthful about your capabilities and level of experience.

24. By taking part, all participants confirm that they are happy for their names and any footage or photographs taken during their participation in a SBH Scotland event to be used to publicise our work, including television broadcasts.

25. Participants' supporters and family members who spectate at events do so entirely at their own risk and SBH Scotland shall not be liable for any injury or loss that might occur as a result of their attendance other than as a result of SBH Scotlands negligence.

26. All transfers to and from the venue are at the participant's own expense.

27. SBH Scotland may need to cancel an event or withdraw a place and then only your registration fees will be refunded. If payment from your sponsors is conditional on your completing the event then they will be repaid. SBH Scotland has no other liability to you in respect of the fundraising event.
