3 incredible weekends of zipslide raise £163,000 for SBH Scotland

Chisholm Hunter Team pose in front of zipslide craneSBH Scotland is absolutely thrilled to announce that this year’s Zipslide the Clyde event is set to raise a phenomenal £163,000! Over three incredible weekends from the end of August—70 brave participants soared through the skies to raise money for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland (SBH Scotland). And the excitement doesn’t stop there, as throughout September, over 1,530 people took on this thrilling event on behalf of 65 other wonderful charities across Scotland.

A High-Flying Adventure for a Good Cause

Zipslide the Clyde has quickly become a beloved charity event, offering a thrilling, one-of-a-kind way to see Glasgow’s stunning cityscape while raising much-needed funds for vital causes. Participants are launched off a 100ft-high crane next to Glasgow’s Riverside Museum, soaring across the Clyde River on an exhilarating 1,245ft journey. It’s not only a heart-pounding adventure, but a chance to make a real difference in people’s lives.

Chisholm Hunter’s Generous Contribution

We want to give a special shout-out to luxury jewellery brand Chisholm Hunter, who made a spectacular contribution to this year’s event. A third of SBH Scotland’s participants were from Chisholm Hunter, with 23 staff members taking to the skies on the very first day, raising an amazing £5,000 for SBH Scotland. We’re beyond grateful to their Chairman, Harry Brown, who generously matched the amount raised, bringing their total contribution to a whopping £10,000!

Max Brown, Retail Director at Chisholm Hunter, shared his thoughts on the event:

“Zipslide the Clyde was everything I hoped it would be! It was nerve-wracking to be 100ft up in the air, but once I was launched off the crane, the adrenaline kicked in and it was thrilling. It has been really enjoyable watching the Chisholm Hunter team come together, doing something fun and most importantly, raising money for such an important charity.”

Personal Stories that Inspire

Laura was inspired by her niece, Amber, who was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus and has been supported by SBH Scotland since birth. Following in the footsteps of her other niece, Laila, who remains our youngest Zipslide participant at just 10 years old, Laura was motivated to take on this challenge for her family and for all those supported by our charity.

“The support SBH Scotland has given to my family is so appreciated, and I wanted to give something back. Taking part in Zipslide the Clyde was such a great experience, and I know that the money raised will enable SBH Scotland to support more families across Scotland. I had great fun on the day, and it was amazing to have Amber there cheering me on!”

Jacqueline took on the Zipslide in memory of her nephew, William Grant, who was supported by SBH Scotland and our late Honorary President, Professor Dan Young, who had been William’s surgeon.

“I wanted to raise money to help SBH Scotland reach more people who need help and make sure that the memory of William and Dan live on. It was great to challenge myself and raise money for a cause that is very dear to my heart.”

Your Impact is Truly Unstoppable

Funds raised from this event are crucial in helping SBH Scotland ensure that no one is left to cope alone with the challenges of spina bifida and hydrocephalus. Our charity provides a wide range of services, including support groups, hospital visits, financial advice, counselling, and health and wellbeing clinics, all designed to empower and uplift families across Scotland.

Lynsey Hamilton, Fundraising Manager at SBH Scotland, shared her excitement for the event’s success:

“This year’s Zipslide the Clyde event has been the best yet! I’m in awe of our fundraisers and want to thank everyone who took to the sky for SBH Scotland. Together, we can ensure that every child is born unstoppable in life!”

A Special Thanks

We’d also like to extend our gratitude to all the amazing organisations that made this event possible, including Peel Waters, Big Bang Events, SEC, Amvale, Farrans, QD Events, and Glasgow City Boats. Without their support and permission to access such unique locations, we wouldn’t be able to run this unforgettable event.
