Cumbernauld 10K celebrates 10 years with SBH Scotland
First held to mark the 50th anniversary of Cumbernauld new town in 2007, the Cumbernauld 10K race is now a popular event on the athletics calendar with over 650 runners registered last year.
The 10th anniversary event takes place on Sunday 18 September at Broadwood Stadium and we're delighted to have been chosen as the nominated charity for a 10th year.
New for this year are a toddler dash and a 400m run for P1 to P4 children.
There will also be 1k races for P5 to P7 children, a 3k race for S1 to S5 pupils and a Victory Mile Walk (for those of all abilities), as well as free family entertainment and activities.
“The Cumbernauld 10k is firmly established as one of our most popular events with runners coming from across Scotland, and we’re aiming to make this year the best ever,” said Councillor Allan Graham, Chair of Campsies Centre (Cumbernauld) Ltd.
“With events for toddlers and P1 to P4 kids and the Victory Mile Walk open, there is now something for everyone, no matter their age or ability. It’s a real family occasion.
“To mark the event’s 10th birthday we’d love to welcome back anyone who has taken part over the last decade to help us celebrate.

Last year, the event raised £3,675 for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland. We are the only specialist charity in Scotland providing a lifetime commitment of support services, training and projects for everyone affected by spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus. One of the highest incidences in Scotland is in Lanarkshire.
The Cumbernauld 10k is organised by North Lanarkshire Council and North Lanarkshire Leisure Ltd, in partnership with NHS Lanarkshire, Campsies Centre Cumbernauld Ltd, Strathmore Spring Water and the Cumbernauld News and Kilsyth Chronicle.

Trekkers tackle the Italian Alps for SBH Scotland
5 men (pictured below), including SBH Scotland Board Member Robert Carachi, will be taking on the Sentiero Delle Orobie, a famous Trek in the Italian Bergomo Alps, all in aid of SBH Scotland.

Held in association with The All Talent Agency, we're looking for physically fit men (18 and over) across Scotland who would like to be the model leading our important campaign forward for the next 12 months. Del Amitri Fans boost donations to SBH Scotland
As soon as Del Amitri fans across the globe heard about the Justin Currie Auction Lot donated to Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland for the Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards they got involved.
Del Amitri fans have set up a special JustGiving page to give everyone, not able to attend the awards, the possible chance to win this prize. If the page raises enough money to be the winning bid then they'll choose one person who donated as the winner. If they're not the highest bidder at the Awards on the 8th May 2016 then they're just delighted that they've been able to donate to charity.
So far over £2,000 has been raised through their JustGiving page and they've put together a special film on YouTube.

Justin Currie pledges his support to SBH Scotland
Del Amitri frontman Justin Currie visited Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland’s HQ in Cumbernauld to announce his unique auction prize for this year’s Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards.
The “Roll to me” singer has agreed to compose, produce and record a single for the winner which will also be framed as a keepsake for the highest bidder. As part of the prize, the charity will own the rights to the song, meaning any money made from the music will go directly to specialist charity, SBH Scotland.
The Scottish Entertainment & Hospitality Awards due to be held at the Glasgow City Hotel on Sunday 8 May, showcases the range and quality of Scotland’s entertainment industry. SBH Scotland is the official charity partner for the annual awards and all money raised on the night by the nominees will go towards the services it provides to families across Scotland.
Justin was inspired to donate the personal prize after he heard about the charity and spent time with SBH Scotland’s service users at one of its bi-weekly play schemes, singing and playing with the children at an “Under the Sea” themed session.
Justin Currie said: “I know one of the families who are supported by Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland. They are consistently singing the praises of the charity and the work they do to make their everyday lives that much easier.
“I wanted to provide a prize that would get people talking as well as hopefully raise a lot of money. I will spend time with the winner getting to know them, so the song will be something truly personal to them.”
