Trekkers tackle the Italian Alps for SBH Scotland

5 men (pictured below), including SBH Scotland Board Member Robert Carachi, will be taking on the Sentiero Delle Orobie, a famous Trek in the Italian Bergomo Alps, all in aid of SBH Scotland.

Robert Carachi, Ewen Mcleod, Eamon Murtagh, Jim Fisher and Jim Kerr will undertake their challenge from 19th – 23rd June this year and will be walking at heights between 1,410 – 2,295 metres above sea level and staying in refuges overnight.

Jim Kerr tells us,“We are all the wrong side of 60 so this will be a good challenge for us! We did the West Highland Way last year for a another charity and raised a lot of money so we wanted to support a different charity this year and help to raise awareness.”

Deborah Roe, Director of Fundraising for SBH Scotland said, “We’re so grateful to this group for choosing to fundraise for us in our 50th year. Our charity continues to support all those affected by the lifelong, complex disabilities of spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus and every year we have to raise £1million. Challenges like this are vital to us providing services for another 50 years.”

Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland (formerly the Scottish Spina Bifida Association) was formed in 1965 by a group of parents who each had a child with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. Now 50 years later, the charity supports over 3,500 children, young people, adults, their family members and carers every year in Scotland whilst retaining its family orientated approach.
